”Farmers’ store of Finland Ltd”, often abbreviated to SMK.
A store chain SMK was established in 1897. It served farmers offering all kind of things needed in agriculture. That is seeds, fertilizers, farming equipment etc. It had also a wheat mill and bakery.
In the 1980’s the SMK was turned to a business development and investing company. In 1985 the name was changed to Finvest Ltd. The company was divided into several parts and the original company was closed in 2000.
The share of Suomen Maanviljelijäin Kauppa / Finvest was listed in the Helsinki Stock Exchange from 1942 to 2000.
Nature of business: Originally retail sale and wholesale, then investing.
